APRS Information

APRS is used extensively during public service for tracking vehicles that are part of the event or for tracking various assets. The Indiana Department of Homeland Security Ham Team is also experimenting with sending short messages via APRS.

Below are three files of interest. The first is a presentation about made by Bob Burns W9RXR at the Indianapolis Hamfest--the last slide of this document has links to web sites with additional APRS information. The second is an instructional document to help you set up your APRS device using tactical callsigns and specific symbols as used on public service events--this document is a work in progress. The third file is an APRS beginners guide written by Steve Noskowicz K9DCI.
